As I sit here at the end of Valentine’s Day, I’m reflecting on the day.

We did a little something special for the kids this morning with fancy Valentine’s Day donuts. They also received a few little gifts.

It’s not really a holiday we celebrate as a couple.

We didn’t plan anything. It’s been a typical night of relaxing after the little ones are in bed. We had a nice dinner and dessert. We’re now watching our favorite (current favorite) television show.

It may not sound special or fancy to some.

To me though, it’s perfect. I’m so happy to be right here. I’m happy about the right now.

It may not be diamonds, fancy dinners, or even a beautiful card.

It was, however, a gorgeous, single rose and my favorite frozen coffee.

An unexpected gift.

An unplanned wonderful yet somewhat mediocre evening and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The love of my beloved is all I need.

12 Days of Christmas {Day 11 : Christmas Eve}

This may sound strange but since we got married we’ve always spent the night at my parents house. My brother was so much younger than I growing up. We wanted to keep Christmas as normal as possible for him.

It’s now been over a decade and we are preparing to take two kids, one cat, and a boatload of gifts over there for another Christmas Eve / Christmas Day of fun.

It’s a tradition I hold dear. It’s always fun. It’s always relaxing.

Will there come a time when we celebrate at our own house? Maybe. For now we’ll enjoy it with my brother, his soon to be wife, my parents, and each other.

As our family grows so does our love for each other. We have the best time when we are together.

My favorite Christmas song is ‘Where Are You Christmas‘ by Faith Hill.

Of course I have probably 5 or 6 favorites but this season I’m choosing this one. It’s from the movie The Grinch. If you haven’t heard the little girl in the movie sing this song…you have to! She’s so cute I almost can’t stand it.
