day 4

Are you finished shopping for Christmas yet?  What are you giving your kids?  Your spouse?

Thankfully I’m finished shopping (and wrapping for that matter)!  Ok, so in all honesty this is true until I purchase another gift like I did this evening.

Anyone else buy and wrap as you go?  I don’t second guess my purchases.  I buy, wrap, and forget about it until Christmas.  I do keep a running list of what I have for people  just in case I want to add to it.

Here are a few ideas in case you are looking for a last minute (inexpensive) gift.

For a hubby (of course these work well for us too):

  • What about a booklet of coupons you’ve created for items like car washes, back massages, foot rubs, candlelit dinner, and movie night (his choice)?
  • Perhaps a cd or iPod filled with his favorite songs.
  • Making a favorite meal or dessert he doesn’t get to enjoy that often.
  • If you have kids, how about setting aside a few hours to head out with the little ones, and give him private time?
  • How about filling his stocking with all of his favorite candy bars?

For the kids:

  • Create several envelopes that have activities inside.  Allow them to choose one periodically.  Some ideas: making cookies, $5 to spend at Michael’s, playing their favorite game, movie night with popcorn (allow them to eat in the living room),  having a picnic inside, a painting day (or something they don’t get to do too often), fort-building.
  • A stocking full of favorite treats.
  • A box full of balloons (mine love balloons)!
  • An assortment of paper, pipe cleaners, glue, crayons, markers, and any other crafting items.
  • 5 coupons to your child’s favorite place or restaurant.
  • If you have more than one child, coupons for free daddy and mommy night.

I’d love to hear more ideas from you! The possibilities are endless.
