Wonder {5 Minute Friday}

One of my favorite parts of the holidays are the Christmas movies.  The movies that make me feel like a kid again.   The movies that remind me that it’s okay to believe.  The movies I will share with my kids for years to come and continue to watch them fill up with excitement.

I’ve always felt the anticipation of Christmas morning as if something amazing would happen.  I still do.

I eat up Christmas movies and music as though they are nourishment for the soul.  I love to search for, purchase, and wrap Christmas gifts.  I love to spend time with my family around the holidays.  I love that my kids know we are actually ‘Santa’ yet still have a little bit of curiosity.

Heck, I’m still curious!  For all I know there really could be a fat man in a big red suit that flies around the world all in one night.  Wouldn’t that just be amazing?

There are many things that we don’t know about this world.

I wonder…

  • What if we chose to create an atmosphere of cheer and giving all year round rather than only near the holiday season?
  • What if we believed in Him in the same way?
  • What if we believed with the mind of a child, with faith unwavering, with both an open mind and open heart?
  • What if we anticipated that something amazing would happen every single day?
  • What if we believed that He really is that man traveling the globe blessing the world with His gifts?

Could it be?  Could He really be this man in the red suit?  I like to believe so.

He does see all.  He does provide for all of the little children of the world.  He does watch for the good and the bad.  He does give us gifts.

Except He does it consistently, not just one time per year.  He’s there for you always.

Hmmm…are those jingle bells I hear from heaven?!?   <—– Tweet this

I Can Only Imagine {Into the Word Wednesday}

What do you imagine Heaven to be like?  Is it your perfect day all the time?  Can you do whatever you want?  Can you play video games all the time (as my oldest has asked numerous times)?  Is there someone you hope to see again?

There are so many questions.  When I look to the sky I constantly wonder if my grandparents can see me.  If they are watching over my angel babies.

Does anyone else just love Mercy Me?  I can’t get enough of this song, although it moves me to tears by the end.

The lyrics, oh my, the lyrics. Does anyone else get goosebumps when this song comes on the radio?  We listen to our local Christian station most of the day.  When this song comes on I stop whatever I’m doing and just listen.  I feel as though I’m basking in His love right then and there.

They have it exactly right.  We can only imagine it.  According to 1 Corinthians our minds can’t even conceive how amazing it is!!

I leave you with the lyrics so you can start imagining!!

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side

I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me

I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all

I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the sun

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You

Taking the time.

Last night reminded me to take the time to listen.  If I had been too busy I would have missed one of the most amazing moments I’ve ever experienced.

We went to the nursing home to see my husband’s grandma for her 89th birthday.  We brought home the balloons from the party.  We were late, the kids were tired and it was way past bedtime.

Trying to get the kids out of the car and up to bed an hour past bedtime is tough. We were tired and ready to relax.  The kids wanted to let the balloons fly up in the air.  We stopped and took 10 minutes to do this. It was SO worth it!!  The Big One said to me that he was sending these balloons to heaven for great nana.  My grandmother passed 2 years ago.  I still can’t believe he remembers her!  Hearing him call up to heaven ‘Jesus can you make sure that these balloons get to great nana’ instantly made me tear up.  This morning he immediately asked if I thought she would have the balloons by now. Of course she has them and she loves them is what I told him.

If I had cut him off, not allowing him to tell me what he wanted to do I would have missed one of the sweetest moment I’ve experienced as a parent.

I found this on Spiritually Speaking.  It is perfect as a reminder to listen and take the time.
