Tweets, Texts, & Commandments {Into the Word Wednesday}

I’m not sure if it’s the holidays or if it’s the end of the world prediction (anyone really believe that?) but I’ve seen quite a bit of it.  Bickering both online and in real life.  Between people that are supposedly friends and also between loved ones.

I’ve seen it in the way of comments on Facebook, Twitter, and even on blogs.  It can even be via a nasty text, email, or instant message.

I get having a bad day.  I even get having feelings hurt by someone we care about.  Hey, I get it. I’ve been hurt devastated by people closest to me more than once in my life.   Being hurt or even offended doesn’t mean retaliation.  Even when that might be the only way we feel we’ll get closure on a situation.

Let’s not forget that John 15:12 states: ‘This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.’

I believe our first thought in a situation shouldn’t be how we can get back at someone.  Perhaps we should wonder or question what could have happened to create the issue.

I also feel we shouldn’t use text, email, or another form of print media to express our feelings.  The point we are trying to make doesn’t necessarily come across the way we want it.  It can come across as cutting, curt, or even condescending.  Rarely can such a brief message convey what we are really trying to say.  So at that point, it’s taken incorrectly which causes a rift.

I was taught not to say anything if I didn’t have anything nice to say.  I take this to heart and simply don’t respond to it.  I prefer to talk things through either over the phone or in person.  Many people don’t prefer this.  It’s easier to hide behind a computer screen spouting off than to speak with someone face to face.

We are called to love one another as He loves us.  Of course this is hard to say in a world of blogs, social media, and smart phones but I’ll say it anyway.  These types of media are not to be how we solve conflict not to be used to show our love for each other.  All of these serve a purpose but are not meant to replace our relationships.

Life is way too short to live it over texts and tweets!

I love for people to see in my eyes or hear in my voice that I’m loving them as He has loved us.  I also love to feel it from others.  There is no better way to express ourselves.  It just can’t be done in a few sentences or text speak.

I’m challenging you today to take a spare minute and make a phone call, write a handwritten letter, or grab a cup of coffee with a friend or family member.

Would He simply send us a text to tell us if He’s disappointed in us or to show His love? Nope, He sent us an entire book and died on the cross.  Wow.  Talk about love!!

Won’t you join me in spreading a little holiday love this season?

Sharper Than Any Twoedged Sword {Into the Word Wednesday}

So I had an entire piece of writing but am choosing to save that for another day.

I read this and really felt that it didn’t really need anything added to it. His words are the best words!

Crowned By The King Ministry {Product Review}

I had the honor of learning about the Crowned By The King Ministry. Wow.  As soon as I saw this opportunity I knew this would be an amazing chance to help spread the word.

Have you ever felt that you’d love to be part of an amazing but aren’t quite sure that you have the time?   I’ll start by telling you why I’m in love with this ministry.   It’s a ministry that allows us to listen and know when we are to share.

If you have the time now to head over to the Crowned By The King ministry website and check it out, please do.  It’s worth heading over there now then coming back to read my thoughts.

We were sent two necklaces and a ministry guide.  The entire premise of the ministry is to pray and share.  That’s it.  Pray and share.

Two words.  Simple.  Moving.  Purposeful.  Intentional.

Being a working wife and mom leaves me a little strapped for extra time.  Sometimes I forget what extra time is.  This ministry is made for women just like me.  Are you so busy that you can hardly think straight?

Imagine this.  You are wearing a necklace.   A beautiful crown that symbolizes His love.  Another woman comments on your gorgeous necklace.  You say thank you and promptly take it off and hand it to her.

This is called a ‘Crowned Moment.’

How blessed does this make you feel?  Let alone how blessed it makes her feel.  You are right there ministering to another woman about the power of God’s unconditional love.

By simply being women of God, we have a unique opportunity to minister to other women through Crowned By The King.

Wow!

I have been wearing my necklace when I go out over the past two weeks. I have not yet felt the call to pass my necklace along.  I will know it when I do.

When I first heard about the ministry and I knew these were coming I was try to think of who I could pass a necklace to.   Then when they arrived I realized I need to be obedient and give it when I am called to do so.

I am confident it will be the right moment.  It will happen when it is supposed to.  Then, when it does I’ll pass the second necklace along as well.  I’ll be sure to report back and tell you all about it.

I’m excited about it!  It will be amazing.  It will be a blessing.

Do you know what the best part will be?  The best part will be that the glory won’t go to me or to Crowned By The King.  It will go to God.  That crowning moment will be about her experience of feeling God’s love.

It doesn’t matter who gives it to her.  In the end she may not even remember but she will remember the feeling of being loved.

Will that person be you?

Wonder {5 Minute Friday}

One of my favorite parts of the holidays are the Christmas movies.  The movies that make me feel like a kid again.   The movies that remind me that it’s okay to believe.  The movies I will share with my kids for years to come and continue to watch them fill up with excitement.

I’ve always felt the anticipation of Christmas morning as if something amazing would happen.  I still do.

I eat up Christmas movies and music as though they are nourishment for the soul.  I love to search for, purchase, and wrap Christmas gifts.  I love to spend time with my family around the holidays.  I love that my kids know we are actually ‘Santa’ yet still have a little bit of curiosity.

Heck, I’m still curious!  For all I know there really could be a fat man in a big red suit that flies around the world all in one night.  Wouldn’t that just be amazing?

There are many things that we don’t know about this world.

I wonder…

  • What if we chose to create an atmosphere of cheer and giving all year round rather than only near the holiday season?
  • What if we believed in Him in the same way?
  • What if we believed with the mind of a child, with faith unwavering, with both an open mind and open heart?
  • What if we anticipated that something amazing would happen every single day?
  • What if we believed that He really is that man traveling the globe blessing the world with His gifts?

Could it be?  Could He really be this man in the red suit?  I like to believe so.

He does see all.  He does provide for all of the little children of the world.  He does watch for the good and the bad.  He does give us gifts.

Except He does it consistently, not just one time per year.  He’s there for you always.

Hmmm…are those jingle bells I hear from heaven?!?   <—– Tweet this

Cheerful Giver {Into the Word Wednesday}

As I sat wrapping gifts tonight I remembered a verse that I try to keep in the forefront of my mind.

I’m keeping this short and sweet.

I’m working on this myself.  I don’t think it’s something that will ever be perfected because like you, I’m human.

I’ll leave you with some things I’m working on.  I’ll be working on cheerfully giving:

  • my best to my husband and kids above all else.
  • my undivided attention to the little ones no matter what else is going on.
  • my time in a way that He wants me to use it.
  • this blog to share and inspire.
  • ____________________________________

I’m leaving some extra blanks in there for you.  Think about what you’d like to cheerfully give.

I’d love it if you’d leave me a comment with what you’d add.  Could it be money or things?
