Oops and Balance {Living Proverbs 31}

Oops.

Being a mom is hard. Really hard.

We aren’t perfect.  This week Jennifer’s post entitled When We Mess Up As Moms was right on.  She talks about how to handle those moments when we might ‘lose it’ when the stress builds up.

So the next time you find yourself in that place….remember you’re not alone.  Pray, make it right, & improve on things for next time.  Your kids will be better because of it!

She’s right. We aren’t alone.  Even when sometimes we think we are.

The other post that stood out to me was Paula’s How to Balance Blogging and Family Time.

How to Balance Blogging and Family Time

Why?

Well, because I blog and I have a family!

She has 8 great ideas on how to work toward balancing blogging and family.  In fact, you could really use these tips and apply them to anything you are trying to keep in check!

Hint…#3 and #4 are really good!!!!

the scoop {Living Proverbs 31}

So here it is.

Whenever I start to have doubt.  You know.  You’ve watched a love story and your life doesn’t resemble anything like that one.  You begin to wonder if your husband still loves you.  Oh, you don’t ever wonder?  Yeah.  Neither do I.  Just in case someone does…

Think about something sweet your spouse does for you.  Something maybe a little off the wall.  Something that reminds you that he loves you.

Mine?

Well.  I’m not a huge ice cream lover.  I like less than 5 flavors of ice cream.  My all-time favorite though is Peanut Butter ‘n Chip.  Can you say YUM?  It’s the most delicious thing ever.  It’s so super chunky that it’s almost like eating frozen peanut butter from the jar.

Here’s the scoop though.  I don’t really like the ice cream part as much as I like the chunk part.  The giant chunks of peanut butter and chocolate chips are divine!  So as I scoop out of the container, I scoop from the middle.  I work around the non-chunky part and only take the chunks.  The chunky part is at least 80% of the ice cream container.

ice cream

The funny part is once all of the big chunks are gone I won’t eat any more of it.  It’s not worth it to me.  So my amazingly wonderful husband will eat the non-chunky part even though it’s not his favorite either.  He’ll just add a scoop to whatever ice cream he is eating.

Isn’t he amazing?  We work well together.  I get the chunky, he gets the ice cream.  It works

Is there something little like that in your relationship?  Is there something small that he does that you just love?

Marriage isn’t just giant romantic gestures.  It’s also the tiny, minute details that keep the relationship going.  The small things are definitely where it’s at!

Remember when you fell? {Living Proverbs 31]

Do you remember when you became a Christian?

Do you remember that fateful day that you accepted Him? Remember when you fell to your knees asking for Him?

Do you remember when you were baptized?

I remember those days like they were yesterday. It was definitely one of the most grown up things I’d ever decided as a child. I was a little (okay…a lot) stubborn back then. Okay, okay. Truth time. I am still stubborn. Very stubborn.

There are certain things you remember though. No matter what, you remember them.

This is why I’m highlighting Sheila’s post Like a Packet of Little Love Notes.

She shares about finding some of her note cards from years earlier.

How His Word breathed new life into me when heartbreak hurt so bad I could barely breathe, and the jagged edge pieces of my broken heart littered the floor.

Do you remember when you reached out? If you haven’t reached out, did you know that you can at any moment in time? He will accept you as you are.

No judgement, no reminders, no guilt.

Think about how much you love your own children. He loves you even more than that.

Times of Crisis {Living Proverbs 31}

It could be the death of a family member, a job loss, an illness, a financial mistake, loss of a pet.  Honestly, it can be anything that drastically affects you and your family.

How do you survive?  How does your marriage come through unscathed?

Elizabeth from over at Yes, They Are All Ours wrote about this last week and it stuck with me.  I completely knew what she was saying.  It’s important.  It’s one of those things that occurs suddenly and if you aren’t prepared for it, it can devastate your marriage if you aren’t ready.

I definitely suggest you check it out.  It will get the gears turning toward what you may want to work on in your house.  Just to be prepared.
