Confessions of a Pinterest addict.

Hi. My name is Kelly and I’m a addicted to Pinterest.

I can not tell a lie.  There are days when I can. not. wait. until naps to sneak a peek.  All of the amazing new things that magically appear when I refresh my Pinterest profile is like a little slice of heaven!

So if you are also addicted to pinning please join me!

Since I have over 700 pins I’ll be choosing a very pinteresting craft, recipe or kid-friendly activity to highlight at least once a week.  More if possible!  Please join me if you’d also like your pins to come to life rather than just be a picture on your Pinterest board.  With that said let’s get off the computer and create something already!!

–I’ve highlighted a few things I’ve created already but here is a quick recap of two of my favorites. I made these about a month before I started this blog so there are no photos of how I create them.  I do plan to include instructions, tips and materials needed on future ‘pins’ so you can create your own as easily as possible.

What’s in a word?

Anyone else out there have their own language? I don’t mean you learned a language but that you created your own that probably only you understand! I constantly blurt out new words that make sense to me and okay, probably only me. Actually my kids encourage my silliness with words which probably spurns me on. They think it’s so funny, crack up laughing  then proceed to tell me that it doesn’t make any sense.

I didn’t think much about it until I was choosing a new activity to try from my boards on Pinterest and realized that I may have had a little too much fun with them.  My Pinterest boards have pretty funny titles. I understand them all but I imagine an outsider may not!

Some of these boards are called funsational, holidacious, fantabulous, kitchenesque, and quotatious. This all makes perfect sense to me. Since they are my personal pin boards I guess that’s okay.

It only made sense for me to come up with a funsational title for this blog and so Exceptionalistic was born. Short, sweet and to the point which is pretty much how I live.  I try to live an exceptionally simplistic life.

If you make up words too please comment and let me know that I am not the only one!!!

Oh and because you are probably wondering here is my Exceptionalistic-to-English dictionary!

{funsational = fun stuff to try}

{holidacious = holiday bodacious fun}

{giftiness = gifts I want to give}

{fantabulous = fantastically fabulous}

{kitchenesque = stuff for the kitchen}

{quotatious = quotes that inspire me}

So this is my language, how I express what I feel in an exceptionally simplistic way by fusing words to get my point across…stay tuned for more blogtastic linguistics!

Day in the ‘clouds’

What a beautiful day it was today!

We had an old kiddie table that stored blocks sitting around completely ‘outgrown’ so we emptied it and used it for cloud dough. We put the lid on the table for naps and went back to it a few hours later. It was still useable! With it being a moist mixture I wasn’t sure if it would dry out but it didn’t. Just a tip for those of you that don’t want to use 8 cups of flour each time the kids want to play in the clouds!

Pinning, pinning and more pinning!!!

Hosting two baby showers for my sister-in-law recently was both rewarding and exhausting! I decided I wanted to do something fun. Where did I find these amazing projects? Where else?!? Pinterest. Anyone else in LOVE with Pinterest?!? Finding new activities for the kids, crafts for me or DIY projects for the house is exhilarating. If you have a particular favorite ‘pin’ I’d love to hear about it.

Here are the two I chose! A new take on the old diaper cake which turned out even cuter than the photo.  We played a game of guessing how many diapers it took.  It’s definitely deceiving.  I won’t give it away in case you decide to make one of your own!  The other craft was these super sweet felt owls. The baby’s room was done in woodland creatures with owls. These were meant (original purpose of the pin) to be used for a mobile but she used them on a wallpaper tree in the baby’s room.
